this isn't about only SUVs moron, it's about any gas guzzling dangerous car that's a danger to its drivers, its passengers and anyone within 10 seconds of contact with it. it's about SUVs, MiniVans, huge overloaded pickup trucks.
Its about making it so that our homes don't get the paint stripped off of them by acid every time it rains. Personally I'm sick of having to hire someone to constantly repaint the house from the acid rain that comes down because people in Houston refuse to drive anything that weighs less than four clydesdales put together. Sure, I could have aluminum siding put on, but did you know that actually drops the value of your property by up to 75%? A $100,000 house quickly becomes $25,000 when you put aluminum siding on. Ontop of that, you also lower the value of the houses in the neighborhood with aluminum siding (it may not make sense to you but it's true, the value of the other houses is affected by the value of your house!). This decrease in property value could actually result in a lawsuit by anybody in your neighborhood resenting you costing them money!
Acid rain sucks and I shouldn't have to repaint my house because a single family of 4 people drives 2 pickup trucks, an SUV and a minivan... and all individually, never in the same car together. Heavens forbid that anybody actually carpool!

Again, if you are going to resort to the fuel economy argument, I will counter with the minivans and pickup trucks which make up a HUGE %age of the market, which are hogging gas, rolling over, and causing harm to passengers of smaller vehicles. How about I start making YOU pay for the pain that keeps getting stripped off of my house from the acid rain? If you're going to use a product, you ought to be willing to take the consequences of your choices. REPAINT MY HOUSE!!!!
